NUTRITION - WEIGHT LOSS TIPS

Weight loss tip: If you are attempting to lose weight then cut out all carbs (potatoes, bread, rice, pasta, etc) after lunch time on the days that you don’t ride. Your body doesn’t need carbohydrates when you sleep unless you are replacing lost sugars from a heavy ride session that day or are carbing up for a big ride or race the following day. You can still have a big dinner with chicken or meat and as many vegetables as you like (except beans and corn). A nice stir fry in a drop of lite olive oil is a good substitute.
Winter Soup: Did you know that to replace nutrients faster every day, the Tour de France competitors liquidize some of their food. Liquid food is absorbed far quicker and easier than solid foods and also
help the athletes conserve the energy their body would use to digest the meal.  Winter is the perfect
time to enjoy liquid meals in the form of soups. No, not the “cup a soup” variety, proper, thick soups. If you eat soup as your main meal then make sure it has some form of meat/chicken (or beans) and 3-5 vegetables in it to get the correct nutritional balance of protein, carbs, vitamins and minerals.
